A different kind of Jazz

There have been many previous cases, but this one is final.  The “Final Case” is a band that merges the diverse musical styles and experiences of its three core members:  Kimo Eiserbeck (composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist), Jean Cortis (vocalist/song writer) and Jeremy Sullivan, aka JER (emcee/vocalist/song writer).  With over a half century of musical experience between them, this dynamic trio builds on their hip hop, jazz, and soul foundations to create the “Final Case”.The band was formed due to a chance encounter between Kimo; a masterful jazz saxophonist, and JER; a New York City born and bred philosopher-emcee, in a dingy Berlin bar.  After being introduced by a mutual acquaintance, JER joined Kimo’s former band Quagga, for an impromptu freestyle session during the show.  Since then, JER and Kimo (Diazpora, the JayCase) have been partners, together releasing JERs debut mixtape: The Great Late Donald Ruckus in 2021.  Shortly thereafter, jazz vocalist Jean Cortis (The JayCase) joined Kimo and JER, adding her song writing and vocal abilities to their new band: Final Case.

The Final Case sound blends JERs heady lyrics, Jeans smokey vocals, and Kimo‘s neo jazz, funk/soul soundscapes into something new, yet familiar.  This band is not a simple jazz influenced live hip hop act, but three self-contained artists who are focused on forging the dynamism of modern jazz, the story telling and emotion of classic soul, and the vivid detail and energy of hip hop lyricism, into fully realized albums, and live performances, which take listeners on a stimulating journey through songs that touch on the personal and the political.  Final Case makes thought provoking, meticulously crafted music for a discerning audience often bored by disposable songs and algorithm-driven playlists.  Together, they make the case that real music, and musicians, are here to stay, and after listening you will be sure you to agree that this case is final!
