The “Final Case” is a band that merges the diverse musical styles and experiences of it’s founding members: Kimo Eiserbeck (composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist) and Jeremy Sullivan, aka JER (emcee/vocalist/song writer). With over a half century of musical experience between them, this duo builds on their hip hop and jazz foundations to create the “Final Case”.
The band was formed due to a chance encounter between Kimo; a masterful jazz saxophonist, and JER; a New York City born and bred philosopher-emcee, in a small Berlin bar. After being introduced by a mutual acquaintance, JER joined Kimo’s for an impromptu freestyle session during Kimo’s performance. Since then, JER and Kimo (Diazpora, the JayCase) have been partners, together releasing JER’s debut album, The Great Late Donald Ruckus, in 2021.
The Final Case sound blends JER’s heady lyrics and Kimo‘s neo-jazz, funk/soul soundscapes into something new, yet familiar. This band is not a simple jazz influenced live hip hop act, but two self-contained artists who are focused on forging the dynamism of modern jazz, and the vivid detail and poetic energy of hip hop lyricism, into fully realised projects, which take listeners on a stimulating journey through songs that touch on the personal and the political. Final Case makes thought provoking, meticulously crafted music for a discerning audience often bored by disposable songs and algorithm-driven playlists. Together, JER and Kimo make the case that real music, and musicians, are here to stay!
